BEACH LAN 10 TOURNAMENT DETAILS

Format:

  • 26 team maximum.
  • Double-Elimination Bracket.
  • Seeding for each team will be based on rank determined by previous Beach LAN tourney performance. Seeding will be determined at the discretion of tourney officials for teams with players that do not already have a rank.
  • Each team will retain their seed through each round of the bracket (i.e., there is no seed stealing if a lower seeded team defeats a higher seed).
  • All games will be played on Halo 1: Patch Edition v1.3 with NHE mode enabled.
  • Challonge will be used to run the entire tournament. A link for the bracket will be provided at the start of the tournament.
  • Players are responsible for reporting their scores to a tourney official at the conclusion of each match.
  • It will be the responsibility of each team to check the Challonge bracket for their scheduled time and station once the link for the bracket is provided.

Schedule:

  • Double Elimination Bracket Starts on Monday, August 9th @ 4pm EST
  • Double Elimination Bracket Continues on Tuesday, August 10th @ 5pm EST
  • NOTE: The tourney schedule will be strictly adhered to and any free play games that are not finished before the tourney start time will be cut short regardless of whether they are still in progress. Please plan accordingly.

  • Registration deadline is 4pm on Sunday, August 8th.
  • 26 team max for the double elimination bracket. If registration exceeds this limit, the lower ranked seeds will play a best of 3 round robin to determine who will advance to bracket play.

Prize Pool:

  • Current Total Prize Pool = $3860
  • Prize Split:
  • 1st Place 2v2 – ~40%
  • 2nd Place 2v2 – ~30%
  • 3rd Place 2v2 – ~20%
  • 4th Place 2v2 – ~10%

Rules:

General Rules:

  • Players must use their tourney-registered name as their in-game name. No derivative names allowed.
  • THE JOWNZ RULE: Players must play at their assigned station using the equipment that is provided. Higher seeded players can choose which side of the station to play on however swapping out TVs, monitors, or Xboxes is not permitted and will result in a forfeit of the match.
  • THE COOLDOWN RULE: Between games of a match, each team is allowed an opportunity to turn off all of the Xboxes to allow a cool down period for up to 5 minutes.  This can only be done once per match per team however any team that is late to their match forfeits their right to a cool down period.
    • Pro Tip: If time permits, instead of starting a match early, turn the Xboxes off for a few minutes before you start playing.
  • No rocket reload glitch allowed.
  • Players must stay in-bounds on the map.
  • No coaching from outside players while a game is being played.
  • Players are not allowed to view an opponent’s screen while a match is in progress.
  • If a player quits out of a game, that player and their team will forfeit the game. One exception shall be made, at the discretion of tourney officials, for the very first game of a match.
  • If a team forfeits or gets disqualified from a match their opponents will advance to the next round. If a team forfeits or is disqualified from the grand finals the opposing team will be declared the champions.  There will be no retroactive advancement of previously eliminated teams.
  • Disputes: any disputes for which the tournament rules are silent shall be resolved at the sole discretion of tournament officials and their decision shall be binding to that match and all following matches. If a tournament official happens to be involved in the match being disputed said official shall recuse himself from the decision making process and allow other officials to determine a resolution.
  • Rules for late or absent players:
  • Teams are given 5 minutes after their scheduled match time to show up to their assigned station. Teams that are 5 minutes late will forfeit the first game of the match.  If a team is 10 minutes late, they will forfeit the match.  If both teams are not present after 10 minutes, the higher seeded team will advance.
  • Tie Breaker Rules:
  • Bracket games that end in a tie will count for half of a win for each team. The map shall be replayed only if the match ends in a tie.

Match Structure for Bracket Play:

  • All matches will be a best of 5 maps.
  • Each team shall first take turns banning 1 map each (the higher seed has the option to take the first turn).
  • Higher seed picks first map. The loser of subsequent maps will pick the next map.
  • The higher-seeded team shall choose their team color which must be retained for the duration of the match. Note: Red team must play with the hostman on their team.
